The Tobago-born Reggae star Franz Job stroke again: his latest achievement is a new riddim sampler with a fine selection of Reggae artists performing on the Country Life Riddim, produced by Franz Job in the name of the Country Boyz Foundation.
The perfect smooth summer soundtrack we all were waiting for! Music from the heart with positive messages and relaxed vibes.
Again, like on his earlier riddim samplers Franz gathered an impressive array of gifted artists many of whom are well known on their islands but still to be discovered for the global Reggae scene.
Beside Franz himself with his track "Every Day" there are for example the Trinidadian Reggae & Soca artist Bud Ramsay with his fantastic tune "Top of the World", the breathtakingly versatile Soca, Reggae and yes: Hardcore singer Malene Younglao, born in T&T living in Philly, with her song "Lick Shot", the US Rootsreggae band King Solomon with their uplifting song "Get Myself Together", "All Over Again" by Khari Kill from New York who in the words of BBC radio is "Reggae's unknown superstar", the Guyanese singer Bumpa Green, the HipHop, Reggae and Soca producer and singer Dainjamental, and many many more.

Just a few weeks after the horrible earthquake, Haiti already disappears again from TV and the public attention. However the people of Haiti are still having incredibly hard times and we were extremely relieved to hear that all our Haitian artists and their families are at least alive and unharmed. More than ever we want to support them as best as we can, so we'ld like to draw your attention once again to the releases from Haiti / the Haitian Diaspora:

Frèt Kash

This highly energetic tune was made for the Haïti Kanaval 2009 by Negus World Order, Siameze and Sha, a group of young Haïtians living abroad.
Life in the diaspora influenced their musical style, which can be refered to as rapsin, a mixture between rap kreyol and the traditional Haïtian mizik rasin. Please click here to find the download links.

Boukman Eksperyans - La Revolte des Zombies

The latest album of the legendary band Boukman Eksperyans is a unique and thrilling mixture of musical styles such as mizik rasin, voodoo rock, reggae, rap... Read on and download!

CBG - Illusion

The album "Illusion" builds bridges across borders: borders of countries, cultures, minds and music-styles. 7 young musicians with roots in Haiti, Côte d'Ivoire and Switzerland teamed up, called themselves Crazy Boys Generation, or CBG, and mingled their musical backgrounds to create a unique style. Tue, 27 Oct 2009 05:35:00 -0700 Crazy Boys Generation - Illusion - Fresh Bacchanalism Release http://blog.bacchanalism.com/crazy-boys-generation-illusion-fresh-bacchana http://blog.bacchanalism.com/crazy-boys-generation-illusion-fresh-bacchana

The latest release of Bacchanalism, the album "Illusion" builds bridges across borders: borders of countries, cultures, minds and music-styles.
7 young musicians with roots in Haiti, Côte d'Ivoire and Switzerland teamed up, called themselves Crazy Boys Generation, or CBG, and mingled their musical backgrounds to create a unique style.
CBG was founded in 2006 in Geneva by the three friends Antoine Alouidor alias T-one, Joelby Jean alias Jlb Tafia, Yannick Dje alias Y.Dje. Owing to their enthusiasm, creativity and love for music, they were able to get more and more band members on board. Over the years not only the band, but also their fan-base grew, infected by CBG's verve and energy loaded performances at festivals and concerts in Switzerland and abroad.
Their style is truely one-of-a-kind: Haitian mizik rasin and rap fuse to rapsin, with Haitian drums, west African sounds and lyrics sung and rapped in French, Creole and English.
The producer Ted Gabriel Beaubrun alias TedyBoy, deriving from a musical family, stirred versatile cultural influences with great creativity and composed an array of fresh and innovative pieces for CBG's album "Illusion", released in 2009.
This energetic mixture of positive vibes, well-produced beats and intelligent lyrics will definitely make you listen to the voice of the Crazy Boys Generation!

It's not just an "illusion", it's straightforward reality!
Find the links to the download stores where you can purchase the album "Illusion" here, please.

Go and check out the Boys live at Festival Tambour Battant (Genève, Switzerland), November  28th, 2009.

Fri, 16 Oct 2009 06:09:00 -0700 Boukman Eksperyans - La Revolte Des Zombies http://blog.bacchanalism.com/boukman-eksperyans-la-revolte-des-zombies http://blog.bacchanalism.com/boukman-eksperyans-la-revolte-des-zombies

Boukman Eksperyans is one of the most important and most popular bands from Haiti, touring the world for the last two decades, once even have been nominated for a Grammy. Being a blend of Rasin, Reggae and Voodoo Rock, the band's sound is as unique as it is enchanting. The fusion of traditional Haitian influences, rock-style guitar and uplifting lyrics in French, Kreyol and English is a hallmark of the band that was named after Dutty Boukman a hero of the slave uprising that resulted in the Haitian revolution.

The latest album "La Révolte des Zombies" is a generous one: packing 23 tracks in 90 minutes.
The novelty about this album is already audible in the eponymous first track "Zombie": some deliberate Hip Hop influences, like decent raps and crisp digitally produced beats. This is owed to the fact that the son of the band's founders Ted Beaubrun who co-produced many of the tunes on this album is an up-and-coming young musician, colaborating a lot with rappers of the international Haitian diaspora. He breathes in some fresh air without disrupting the authentic Boukman Eksperyans sound. There are still the rousing electric guitars, the intoxicating voice of Lolo Beaubrun and the Haitian drums, that evoke the typical feverish and tingly atmosphere of all Boukman tunes.
This makes this album even more diversified and the messages brought to us by singers and rappers from different generations are striking and powerful.
A very special experience - a Boukman Eksperyans.

Bacchanalism is very proud to bring "La Révolte des Zombies" to you via all major downloadshops. Links to the stores can be found here.

Today Franz Job aka “The Eclectic Country Boy”, is one of the greatest and most promising Reggae artists outta Trinidad & Tobago. He composed and produced several wonderful riddims, voiced by the cream of the crop of T&T’s Reggae scene, he is also singing himself and playing instruments.
Franz is proud to be a “country boy” from Trinidad’s smaller sister island of Tobago. Growing-up on this gem of the Caribbean with its scenic beauty and seclusion on one hand and variety of musical traditions on the other hand formed him. Already at the tender age of 14, Franz Job was an accomplished rhythm guitarist in his countryside village of Charlotteville, Tobago.
Steel Pan and the song writing excellence of the Calypso and Country genres, together with high energy church sessions can be named as fundamental influences as well as his childhood heroes such as The Wailers, Israel Vibration, later on mid 90s superstars The Fugees were a great inspiration.

Five years later, after finishing an engineering course at The College of North East London, Franz with the help of fellow teenaged church goers Gemma Devonish and Lorraine Hutchinson, made his first recording ‘Juggle Down Dey’. After hearing the innovativeness and versatile musical capability of the young country boy, veteran sound man and Reggae intelligentsia Gladdy Wax became integral in mentoring the budding artist through the ins and outs of the record industry.

From there on, Franz, funded solely by monies made as a pharmacy assistant, composed and produced numerous recordings under the ‘Roots Conquest’ collective – a group consisting of close friends founded by the hard working musician.
This is the era that truly defined the “Eclectic Country Boy” and brought him to the attention of producer extraordinaire Rollo Armstrong and various other record company hot shots.
Franz then went on to feature on the ‘Sweet As’ hip hop album by renowned UK producer P*Nut and the platinum selling Faithless album ‘Forever Faithless’.
In 2006 the Country Boyz Foundation (CBF) was founded, a UK based Entertainment Group that consists of an Independent Record Label Imprint and Music Publishing House dedicated to the uplift and worldwide promotion of Tobago recording and performing artists.
Bacchanalism is now cooperating with CBF to bring the beautiful music of eclectic Tobago artist Franz Job to all major download shops. The digital release of three sweet riddims, that feature Trinidad &Tobago’s finest is just accomplished and there is more to come soon. We'll keep you updated.

When you picture a riddim album titled Love Trap, you automatically think of love songs often singing stories of which we're all too familiar with. Not in this case. As a matter of fact, no where near. Yes, there's a love song or two, but nothing like your average. It's as if the hypnotic pulses of this sophisticated, yet easy flowing musical construction takes hold of all pre-empted every day lyrics and story lines and render them as useless.

Instead there are heartfelt love expressions by Franz Job and Candice Lee, socio-political commentary on the hardships of society's poorer classes by King David, Jah Sesco's more militant stance against the oppressive tactics and tacticians of Babylon and many more wonderful songs that will stay in your heart and your ear for much longer than this album's runtime.

Please find this great riddim at Finetunes and the Juno store, more download shops will follow soon.

If ever there was a riddim album that truly reflected the lyrical prowess and diverse melody making techniques of Trinidad & Tobago reggae stars, this would be it. More Times is a genius array of musical interpretation and a pivot point in the artistic direction of the current T&T reggae uprising.

Composed by one of T&T's finest reggae artists, Franz Job, its driving one drop drum beat, soul seductive bass line and infectious guitars combine to formulate the perfect potion to make its audiences cry out for more. On More Times the artists are relaxed yet fiery, humble yet bold. There's courage to speak the truth and sweet inspiration for uplifting messages, heartening tributes and beautiful love songs.

To pick a favourite would be an almost impossible challenge. There's simply a little somethin' on here for everyone, just the way it should be.

Among Dead Men – The Soundtrack – Bobby’s Selection Part 1“ is packed with lots of passion, energy and emotion, just like the award winning action movie „Among Dead Men“ it was composed for. It represents various kinds of Caribbean music ranging from Reggae, Dancehall, Boricua Reggeaton from Puerto Rico, Salsa made in Australia but with a Latin heart, to Rasin and Kreyol Rap from Haiti, as well as R’n'B and Calypso. Therefore it is astonishingly diverse, entertaining and enthralling.
Please also watch out for the international release of the movie early in 2009 and the second part of the soundtrack following soon.
